Background and Brochure 

      Design and Fabrication Inc. was formed in April 1994 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. While the company itself is fairly new we have the experience and capability to design and fabricate items from simple tables to elaborate assembly machines. In 1998 we moved into our new building that includes 1000 square feet of office space and a machine shop and fabrication area, (6,200 square feet), located at the intersection of St. Rte. 182 and Malabar Drive (400 Malabar Drive) in Upper Sandusky.

    Our fabricating shop consists of two band saws, two MIG welders, one TIG welder, a plasma cutter capable of cutting up to 1” thick steel, a 3/16” sheet metal brake, and 42 ton Ironworker . We are capable of designing and fabricating assembly machines, gauging fixtures, inspection stations, finishing fixtures, lift assist fixtures, etc., to your company's specifications and build a turnkey machine including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic. We also have the capability to machine the parts to your specifications and drawings or design and machine them for you depending on your needs.

    Our machine shop consists of three lathes, four vertical milling machines, a Drill press, and a surface grinder. We are capable of turning 16" over the bed and 19" over the gap. The newest lathe is a 16” Dynapath CNC lathe and can handle 3" shaft through its spindle. We have a 3 hp.-milling machinewith a 10" x 54" table, and variable speed drive. It is outfitted with a 3-axis digital read out, which is accurate to .0005". We also have a 2 hp. Bridgeport milling machine with a 9" x 48" table and variable speed drive. It is outfitted with a 3-axis CNC controller accurate to .0005" as well as a new Southwestern Industries K-3 2 axis CNCmilling machine. The other mill is a 1 hp. Bridgeport with a 9" x 42" table it has a 2-axis digital read out which also is accurate to .0005". Our surface grinder is a 6" x 18".

      Our electrical department has over 20 years of experience in the control industry, ranging from as simple as wiring a start-stop station, to PLC wiring and programming, analog controls, complete machine wiring including conduit if necessary. We can design a control system to fit your application. We have the capability of making computer aided design drawings and compiling them in a machine manual including wiring diagrams, PLC program, device installation sheets, and operation manuals.

     We can design a total mechanical system to meet your specifications and then add to that the electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems to turn it into a total turnkey operation. We can integrate PLC logic to control motors, air or hydraulic solenoids, valves, feeders, linear slides, motion, conveying systems, using photo sensors, proximity sensors, limit switches, manual push buttons, selector switches, flow and pressure switches, or temperature controllers. We have the capability to design and fabricate the framework of your system whether you need steel or aluminum in house.
